Job Summary

Revenue Supervisor

Scientific Technical Officer [Resource] 24R

This position can be located in either Kamloops or Clearwater, subject to the successful candidate’s current location and Ministry operational requirements.

An eligibility list may be established for future similar permanent and/or temporary vacancies in the above locations.

Provide leadership and supervision in a dynamic natural resource environment

The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development is the Province’s agency responsible for land and resource management in B.C., which includes the protection of the Province’s archaeological and heritage resources. Operating on a provincial land base of over 94 million hectares, the Ministry ensures the sustainable management of forest, wildlife, water and other land based resources; works with Indigenous and rural communities to strengthen and diversity their economies; and, supports activities that provide environmental, economic, cultural and social benefits. The Ministry is responsible for wildfire management and facilitates safe public access to a wide range of recreational activities such as hunting, fishing, and access to B.C.’s wilderness and backcountry. The Ministry oversees policy development, operational management and implementation, and administers all or part of over 60 statutes and associated regulations.

The Revenue Supervisor is focused on analysing resource issues, interpreting legislation, policy and standards, and planning and directing the technical operations for the Authorizations program. This position supervises a team of resource technologists to deliver services across multiple program areas in the natural resource sector.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education, experience and professional designation as outlined below:

Degree, diploma, certification or equivalent in a natural resource field as recognized by the Association of B.C. Forest Professionals [ABCFP].

Registered, or immediately eligible for registration*, as a Registered Forest Technologist [RFT], or equivalent, with the Association of B.C. Forest Professionals. *Immediately eligible is defined as currently being a registered member in good standing in another applicable Canadian jurisdiction, and able to immediately transfer to the ABCFP. Applicants must contact the ABCFP to confirm their eligibility to transfer prior to applying.

5 years’ experience in operational forest management activities.

Recent experience [gained in the last 5 years] supervising, leading or mentoring staff and/or leading a program.

Experience in negotiating/mediating solutions in natural resource management.

Recent experience [gained in the last 5 years] in one or more of the following: appraisals, timber cruising, scaling, or waste and residue. Preference may be given to 3 or more years of this experience.

Preference may be given to those with formal supervisory experience.

Preference may be given to applicants who hold a valid interior scaling licence.

Preference may be given for experience with government systems such as ECAS, HBS, WASTE, etc.

A valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s licence [or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire] is required.

Applicants selected to move forward in the hiring process may be assessed on the Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies as outlined in the attached Job Profile.

A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.

Professional Designation: YES – Please include your registration number with the Association of BC Forest Professionals [ABCFP] within your application as you must be registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Registered Forest Technologist [RFT] with the ABCFP. If you are not yet registered with the ABCFP, please explain how you are immediately eligible [i.e. currently a RFT member in good standing in an applicable Canadian jurisdiction and can immediately transfer to the ABCFP].
