Vacancy Details:

We are currently looking for outstanding Communication Support Workers to provide non-medical help to students on a flexible, zero hour’s basis. Hours will depend on the number of students referred to you and your flexibility and availability to take on student support hours.

The successful candidates will be required to support students who are deaf in all aspects of higher and/or further education using various communication methods. You will be required to support them in their preferred mode of communication (e.g. sign language, lip-reading) and by implementing a variety of appropriate support strategies.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of supporting deaf people in education, a Signature Level 3 qualification in BSL and hold at least one of the following qualifications:

  • Signature Level 3 Certificate in Communication Support for Deaf Learners
  • Level 4 Communication Support Worker (University of Greenwich)
  • Edexcel’s Professional Development Award in Communication Support Work with Deaf Learners
  • City & Guilds Communication Support Worker Level 3
  • A degree in deaf studies

If working with a BSL user you must also have :

  • Level 3 qualification in BSL

Successful applicants will be required to attend one of our 2 or 3 day induction training courses. Summer induction training is scheduled in the following locations:

Liverpool 13th-15th August 2018 and 5th- 7th September 2018

Gateshead 22nd-24th August 2018 and 4th, 6th & 7th September 2018

Sheffield 22nd-24th August 2018

Leeds 28th-30th August 2018

York 9th-11th September 2018
